CTRL+ALT+LEARN: Resetting the Mindset of Education

Updated: 4 days ago

Every September 5, we celebrate Teacher’s Day, a time to acknowledge those who have shaped our lives, not just by teaching us to read and write, but by inspiring us to question, to lead, and to grow. Teachers are the custodians of possibility. They stand on the frontline of change, guiding young minds through an ever-evolving landscape.

But in 2025, the world of education is moving faster than ever before. New technologies, shifting global priorities, and changing societal needs are challenging the very foundation of how we teach and why we teach. In such a dynamic environment, educators cannot afford to simply keep up; we must lead the way.

That is why I believe it’s time we all hit CTRL+ALT+LEARN

CTRL — Control the Narrative of Education.

For too long, education has been measured by test scores, rankings, and standardised outputs. These metrics have their place, but they cannot be the full story. The narrative must evolve to reflect a broader vision, one that values creativity, resilience, emotional intelligence, and global citizenship as much as academic mastery.

ALT — Seek Alternative Perspectives.

No single system or approach holds all the answers. The challenges we face from AI integration in classrooms to mental health crises among students demand that we listen to diverse voices. It means drawing from global best practices while keeping our unique contexts in mind. It means creating space for dialogue between educators, policymakers, innovators, and, most importantly, learners themselves.

LEARN — Commit to lifelong learning.

In a rapidly changing world, adaptability is not optional. The best educators are those who remain curious, who embrace change rather than fear it, and who continuously sharpen their skills. If we expect our students to be lifelong learners, we must model that behaviour ourselves.

This philosophy is exactly what the TAISI Conference 2025, happening this October in Goa, is all about. Since taking on the role of Chairperson last year, my vision for TAISI has been to make it a platform where the future of education is not just discussed, but actively shaped. This year’s conference will bring together some of the most influential voices in education from India and around the world school leaders, teachers, policymakers, and thought leaders to share insights, challenge assumptions, and co-create pathways for the next era of learning.

It is one of the longest-running and most respected gatherings for international schools in India, but more importantly, it is a space where ideas turn into action. Whether it’s rethinking teacher development, embedding student well-being into the heart of school culture, or harnessing technology responsibly, TAISI 2025 is designed to push the conversation forward.

See You in Goa

As we honour our teachers this month, I invite every educator to join us in Goa. Let’s use this opportunity to reflect, to reset, and to renew our shared commitment to education. Let’s hit CTRL+ALT+LEARN — because when educators unite around purpose and possibility, we don’t just prepare students for the future; we prepare society to thrive in it.
